The Jeep is so much more pleasant to drive now that there is just no comparison.
Goodyear mtr kevlar mod#
The best mod I have made to this Jeep is to take those MT/R with kevlar tires OFF my Jeep. The worst quality set of tires I've owed in 17 years, and I sold them with just 2000 miles on them. You could drive around all day in town with the Jeep going Lump Lump Lump with flat spotted tires. The flat spotting, if present would last until you parked the Jeep in a different postion. It was as if there was a weak spot in the tire sidewall, and if you parked with that spot down you got flat spotting. Other times there was no flat spotting at all. Sometimes the flat spotting would be so bad you could watch the hood of the Jeep go up and down by several inches with each rotation of the tires. They also flat spotted terribly, but flat spotted differently each time I parked the Jeep. They were balanced three times and still had a high speed bounce on one tire. The second set were 35x12.50R-17s that I put on my JK. They had 15,000 miles on them when I sold the truck, and they were at least half way worn out. The first set rode smooth, and balanced easily, they were 285/75R-16s, and were on a GMC Canyon pickup truck with a 4" lift and rear locker. Both sets worked well in snow, both on road and off. Both sets tracked straight, with no wandering or following truck ruts. I've owned two sets.īoth sets made a low rumble sound at about 25 mph, that went away at higher speeds, and at highway speed they were relatively quiet. Here is my experience with Goodyear MT/R with kevlar tires.
